The Baden Library Society is an association of friends of the Badische Landesbibliothek. The friends are interested in the development of "their" State Library, want to participate in its cultural programs, want to meet like-minded people, and want to contribute financially to special activities of the State Library.
The society organizes about four expositions per year, as well as numerous conferences, lectures, and other performances, on subjects having to do with the history and culture of the Upper Rhine, and often related to manuscripts and incunabula, old books, music, modern book graphics and book art, and the history of scholarship and of libraries.
The Baden Library Society publishes catalogues of exhibitions, a series of conference texts, individual works (for example facsimiles), and art postcards (see the brochure
Publikationen der Badischen Bibliotheksgesellschaft und der
Badischen Landesbibliothek).
The Baden Library Society supports the Badische Landesbibliothek financially at different opportunities, for example, the acquisition of valuable manuscripts or the preparation of an exhibition.
Members are invited to the activities of the Baden Library Society which are organized generally in cooperation with the Badische Landesbibliothek.
At activities bearing a charge they pay reduced prices. They pay less for the publications and the art postcards of the Baden Library Society.
Special activities and excursions to visit interesting expositions and sights are organized for the members.
The "Bibliophile Circle" unites friends of old and beautiful books.
